AIM welcomes the European Commission’s Digital Omnibus proposal as an opportunity to simplify the regulatory framework governing the use of personal data in digital services. In its submission, AIM calls for a proportionate, risk-based approach to the new rules on storing and accessing data on terminal equipment, recognising the distinct role of first-party data in enabling trusted brand–consumer relationships. AIM also highlights the need for technically feasible and competition-neutral implementation of automated consent signals, clear guidance and workable standards, as well as sufficient transition periods to ensure consistent application across the Single Market.
